What is now known as the Shire of Seawinds was founded in April of 1984 by Catrin yr Gwenned, Godric Gordon Redwolfe, Valerian O’Neill, Lothbrok Halfdanarson, Winfrith Rouge Martel, Detarian Alexander, Wulf Fairhair, Francis of Grunwald and their children. In July of 1985, the shire had its first gathering with SCA participants outside the shire when they held a revel with Bjornsborg at Lake Corpus Christi State Park in Mathis, Texas.

From this small beginning, the shire has grown to a current membership of close to 80 participants. Some of Seawinds' past members have moved on to other groups and have become barons, baronesses, peerages, and even a queen.

Through the years, the shire has seen its share of joys, fun, strife and troubles, but has managed to come through and is thriving than ever.  As a testament to this, Seawinds celebrated its 20th anniversary in February of 2004 at Coastal Invasion.

The members of the Shire of Seawinds pride themselves on being part of the grand kingdom that is Ansteorra. The following is a partial history of our fair Shire.

Long live the Dream.
