Barony Discussion Minutes


The meeting was started at 6:20 pm on March 20, 2008.

Points Discussed:

Patty - What Baron William says about being a barony: It is no more work then what we do already. You have to hold at least one event, occasionally a kingdom-level event, and have a full slate of officers. All these things we already do.

Gavin - What former Baron Thomas says about being a barony: Same sentiments as Baron William but there will be more politics and more political opportunities.

John - Whether we are a fantastic shire, or an ok barony doesn't matter because we are still going to be Seawinds.

Autumn (Points that those not present have brought up) - We might lose the "homey" feel that many people like about Seawinds. Some people may only support elevation if candidates X and Y are chosen as Baron and Baroness. We have a small core group, who will carry the work of the barony once the core group gets tired?

Byron - There will be a great expense for the group upon elevation, can we really afford it? After all, we can't even afford a new trailer.

Autumn (Points that those not present have brought up) - People are going out of the group (to kingdom) with problems that are never addressed within the group, and the group is never made aware of the problem. This makes us look like we are not self-sufficient and cannot address problems without help from Kingdom level.

Kim - The same few people do all the work for the group, and she, personally, is very tired.

George - We do not have enough fighters should the crown call upon us for war.

Gavin - The time line to become a barony is 1.5 to 2 years.


The final vote was taken at 7:30 pm.

The Seneschal (Lady Arianna) will be contacting both the Kingdom Seneschal and Regional Seneschal to find out what the next step will be for us.
