The Company of the Sable Ram




Many of us know names. Many of us know faces. Some of us know the names and faces. I've known a man by name, face, and deed, with the heart of a lion, near knighthood, and truly a knight in my mind already. My squire brother and friend, Honorable Lord Centurion Lawrence the Rampant of Ram's Isle.
It pains me to say goodbye. You will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.

The Company of the Sable Ram was founded in 2004 in memory of HL Lawrence the Rampant of Rams Isle, Capt Lawrence David Ruiz who passed from among us on August 4, 2003. The Company strives to recognize those individuals who have served faithfully the Shire of Seawinds, in furthering the Dream for their fellow populace members. To recognize those individual who have acted as the heart and soul of the Shire of Seawinds and have represented the Shire as honorable ambassadors in their travels throughout this Kingdom and the Knowne World.




The Premier Members were chosen by his wife, Lady Muirin Nia Reachlinn, and inducted at Seawinds Defender, 2004.

Service Projects of the Company




In addition to helping set up and clean up at all events, the following is a list of our Service to the Shire:

Seawinds Defender XI (2005): The Company provided all the fruit for the waterbearer.

Seawinds Defender XII (2006): Lord Wayland made cloak pins for all the Defenders

Coastal Invasion V (2007): Hosted lunch. This was a fundraiser for the Company to raise funds for future projects.

Defender XIII (2007): Hosted breakfast.

Coastal Invasion VI (2008): Hosting King's Lancer at Coastal Invasion VI






Charter of the Company of the Sable Ram



In Consideration of his great efforts to further the Dream within the Shire of Seawinds and in consideration of his untimely passing, we seek by this charter to establish a service corps within the Shire of Seawinds to be known as the Company of the Sable Ram, founded in memory of HL Lawrence the Rampant of Ram’s Isle. It is the purpose of this Company to recognize those rare individuals who define the very nature and character of Seawinds and without whose guidance and leadership we would not be where we are today.


HL Lawrence the Rampant of Ram’s Isle is to be the premier member of the Company of the Sable Ram, inducted posthumously. The second, third and fourth members of the Company of the Sable Ram shall be chosen by HL Lawrence’s wife, Lady Muirin Nia Reachlinn. Thereafter, the Company of the Sable Ram shall consult amongst themselves and invite new members to join the Company from the populace of Seawinds when they deem it appropriate.


Members of the Company of the Sable Ram shall represent the very best of Seawinds, exhibiting the virtues of service, leadership, chivalry, and courtly grace. They shall be members in good standing of the Society for Creative Anachronism and be active in furthering the Dream for their fellow populace members. A badge fieldless bearing a sable ram rampant shall be the mark of the Company. Let all who wear it do so with honor. And let all who look upon it know that this is the legacy of HL Lawrence the Rampant of Ram’s Isle, recipient of the Sable Comet of Ansteorra (Seawinds), Sable Falcon of Ansteorra, and Companion to the Order of the Centurions of the Sable Star of Ansteorra.



It will be the duty of the members of the Company of the Sable Ram to continually seek opportunities to provide service to the Shire of Seawinds and its’ members.
